Dr. Karan Kaler
          Karan V.I.S. Kaler was born in Ludhiana, Punjab (India) on October 16 th , 1951. He received BSc. (Hons.) and  Ph.D. in 1974 and 1981 respectively, both from the University of Wales (U.K).
          He is presently a  Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Calgary, a registered  Professional Engineer (PENG) in the Province  of Alberta, Canada and a member of the IEEE.  He has over twenty five years of research experience in the field of Bioelectrics and  Biomedical Engineering and especially in the area of Biological Dielectrophoresis. He  heads the Biolectrics Research and Application Group (B.R.A.G.) which focuses on the  development and integration of LabonaChip technologies that leverage closed and  openchannel microfluidics for bioanalysis, disease detection and diagnostics.
