Cellular robot system
0502201-26
[DEFINITION]
A robot system made up of multiple autonomous robots with single
functions called cells and dynamically reconfigured.
[DESCRIPTION]
Cellular robots have autonomous distributivity because they are
composed of single-function autonomous robots. Physically coupling them forms a robot system with a
variable structure in both a hardware and software sense, and the robots can be structured modularly.
In addition, forming a hardware and software network between cells creates a robot system with
higher functions and intelligence. Research into the optimum arrangement of knowledge among cells
envisages a network containing master cells composed of multiple cells, and research into the
optimum organizational arrangement of the master cells is proceeding.
