Hydrogen storage alloy
0201201-69
[DEFINITION]
An alloy able to dissolve large quantities of hydrogen between
crystal lattices.
[DESCRIPTION]
Hydrogen storage alloys are used to store hydrogen gas. These
alloys include La-Ni5, Mm-Ni5 (Mm is misch metal, a mixture of cerium group rare earth metals),
Ti-Fe, Ti-Mn, Li-Fe, and Mg-Ni. This alloy can be used as an actuator by varying the temperature.
At a rise in temperature, this alloy desorbs hydrogen gas and at a drop in temperature absorbs the
gas. This is also promising as an energy storage material.
