Virtual reality
0503102-9
[DEFINITION]
A technology which creates artificial space by computers that
appeals
to human senses of vision, sound, and movement. It provides a simulated environment in which one can
feel as if he/she is in the real situation.
[DESCRIPTION]
Virtual reality is implemented by equipment such as the display
unit that provides vision to human eyes and the data gloves which feed the data of human hands' and
other body parts' movement to the computer. With these equipment, artificial vision, remote control
cameras and so on move interactively, making the virtual reality of the artificial world created by
the computer. One application of virtual reality is the simulation of walking into a building that
is still in the design stage.
