Tour of University of Texas at Dallas
The University of Texas at Dallas is opening its NanoTech Institute for a behind-the-scenes tour lead by Dr. Anvar Zakhidov, associate director
and Dr. Steven Collins, manager of research programs. Not only will you
hear about the international research team of physicists, chemists, biologists,
ceramicists, metallurgists, and working engineers to solve problems, you
will be able to see the research in action. Dr. Collins will show the group
the wet chemistry area where the research team does coagulation and dry
nanotube fiber spinning. Visitors also will view our physics and materials
characterization laboratories where we will focus on the different thermal
analysis, mechanical properties testing, and spectroscopic techniques which
we use to characterize our nanostructured materials. Dr. Zakhidov will
be highlighting the clean-room where visitors can see our state of the
art system for depositing organic layers for organic light emitting diodes,
solar cells, and other advanced devices. This is an excellent opportunity
to take a seriously look at one of UTD's premier research institutes.
